Interesting thing I just heard on Loaded. The University of Virginia is thinking about closing its computer labs because nearly all (3113 of 3117) new students in 2007 already had their own (laptop) computer anyway (see the chart below)…
Of course this figure to a certain extent depends on the field of study. But I think that it will still take some time until universities in Austria (as well as other countries) can think about such a move. And I’m not really sure if that’s a good or a bad thing…

This music video for “Fire” by Codebreaker Feat. Kathy Diamond (Jimmy Edgar Remix) is truly amazing. All the footage was shot in real life and was afterwards edited to get this miniature look. Here’s what the creator says…
This was shot on a Canon Powershot SD630 Point & Shoot.
Additional footage was shot on a Sony EX1 by Jeff Thomas.
Posted using Final Cut, Photoshop, Motion and Color.
Now watch the video below or here in HD.

Song of the Day: Fettes Brot – Lieber Verbrennen als Erfrieren
Notes: I saw the movie Sophiiiie! last night which was quite ok. And I thought this song fits somehow…
Song of the Day: The Rapture – House of Jealous Lovers
Notes: Yesterday I bought The Rapture’s debut album “Echoes” for 99 cents from the bargain counter at the local Hartlauer branch. There are a some great tracks on it, one of them is of course “House of Jealous Lovers”…
PS: By the way, there is now a playlist on Youtube with (nearly) all Songs of the Day. You just have to click here and then on the “Alle Videos wiedergeben“/”Play All Videos”-link to start the playlist…
Song of the Day: Frittenbude – Hildegard
Notes: Couldn’t get this out of my head half of the day. First I didn’t know the artist so it took quite a lot of googling. I should maybe add that I usually don’t like this track – or let’s better say the original song by Hildegard Knef – but this cover is quite OK. You can “listen” below if you like…
Song of the Day: Bruckmayr – I See Them Cry
Notes: Just came back from a rather exhausting stay in Vienna. So here at the end of the day is a great piece of Austrian music. Already came out a few years ago. You can listen below or download here.

So if you lose your digital camera or if you find one you can of course go to the police or the lost properties office. But you could also try the website/blog ifoundyourcamera.blogspot.com.
There people who found a camera can upload pictures that were on it and give detailed information on where they found it. The goal of the whole thing is, that visitors of the website might recognize somebody on the photos or can otherwise help to determine the owner of the camera found. And actually this has already worked sometimes (mainly in the US however)…

This January Australian Indie rock band Howling Bells played an acoustic radio session for Planet Claire on the French radio station Aligre FM. The set includes three tracks “Digital Hearts”, “Into The Chaos” and “Treasure Hunt”. You can download the mp3s here or watch the video below.
The band also previously offered the album version of “Into The Chaos” for free download from their website, after you subscribed to their newsletter. The offer seems to have gone but the mp3 file is still there. This song is really wonderful!
