I watched the latest episode of CNET’s The Real Deal earlier today where they mentioned an interesting tip for air-travellers carrying a laptop computer:
So sometimes it happens that the guys at the security check take your laptop out of its bag or sleeve for closer inspection after which you might find it on the conveyor belt separate from the bag. So now if another traveller has the same model of laptop there might be some confusion. You can avoid that by simply taping your business card or other sheet with your name on it onto your computer.
Seems like an interesting tip that might save you and other travellers some time and nerves at the airport…

Interesting thing I just heard on Loaded. The University of Virginia is thinking about closing its computer labs because nearly all (3113 of 3117) new students in 2007 already had their own (laptop) computer anyway (see the chart below)…

Of course this figure to a certain extent depends on the field of study. But I think that it will still take some time until universities in Austria (as well as other countries) can think about such a move. And I’m not really sure if that’s a good or a bad thing…

At this year’s GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Sony Ericsson recently announced the W995 and as you can see on the photo below it has a standard 3,5mm headphone jack on the top. I actually don’t have a Sony Ericsson phone and I’m also not planning to buy one but I still find this interesting.
Now I wonder how long it will take until they start using normal – meaning SD – memory cards instead of their proprietary Memory Stick…

This video is already about a year old but it is a perfect example of people talking a lot without saying anything. It was shot at CES 2008 by CNET TV and features actor David Caruso (probably best known for his leading part in CSI: Miami) talking about the technology company Lexicon he founded together with this other guy in the video.
So far so good. The thing however is that he talks a lot but not saying anything of what the company does or is planning to do. Well so far it seems like the company actually doesn’t do anything. At least their website is also giving very few information and looks rather primitive…

As you can easily see there is quite a big difference between those two lists. It’s really interesting that Britney Spears is on top of the list at Yahoo. I mean isn’t that over somehow? Also who still uses Yahoo search? I have maybe used it once or twice in the last two years when I didn’t get appropriate results from Google but obviously Yahoo wasn’t any better. Well, from just looking at the list however you can presume what kind of people use it regularly…

I just read about the feed filtering service Feedrinse on Webware today and had a look at it now. But why are there four different types of accounts you can sign up for when in the end they’re all the same…???

Also, if you click on the “can be found here”-link at the bottom of the list you get back to that exact same page. So no more detailed description. I’m really wondering what this is all about. By the way, this service looks quite interesting but I won’t sign up for it because does quite similar things as Yahoo Pipes.
